The bulk of this exhibit was compiled by Anita Witt and installed at the Missouri Heights Schoolhouse in 2002 upon completion of schoolhouse renovation. These items are displayed in the entrance and main room. Since the schoolhouse is closed, except for scheduled events, we offer them here so you can visit us on-line and learn about our history anytime.
Fred H. Holgate (1875–1944) and Wynona Ethel (Roberts) Holgate (1890–1933): Fred Holgate was a well-respected carpenter. In 1917 he and the community of farmers built the Missouri Heights Schoolhouse. Later they built the teacherage, and then a coal storage unit. —Cora (Holgate) Natal, June 2003 |
